Church council member earns emergency post
LCA General Church Council (GCC) member Tim Wiebusch has been appointed as Chief Officer Operations for the Victorian State Emergency Service (VICSES).
Tim has been with the emergency services agency since 2003 and was most recently in the role of Deputy Chief Officer – Readiness.
VICSES Chief Executive Officer Stephen Griffin said Tim had ‘a passion for the emergency management sector and almost 25 years’ of experience with government agencies’.
‘Tim has a strong focus on people and volunteers building trusted relationships’, Mr Griffin said. ‘(He) has played a significant senior operational leadership role in a range of emergency events such as the Black Saturday Bushfires 2009, Victorian Floods 2010/2011, Christmas Day Hailstorm 2012, the Norwegian Star Incident 2016 and the Great Ocean Road Landslides in 2016.’
During his time with the VICSES, Tim also has held significant long-term secondments at the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and Emergency Management Victoria.
He has been the Victorian District representative on GCC since 2009 and has been the chair of Victoria’s District Church Council (DCC) since 2014, having also served as a member of the DCC prior to that.
