Worship resources mark NAIDOC Week
To be celebrated from 8 to 15 November, NAIDOC Week invites all Australians invited to share in the acknowledgement and celebrations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ achievements, their gifts and contributions to the wider Australian community.
To mark this special time, the LCA’s Reconciliation Action Plan office has produced worship and devotional resources, which are endorsed by the LCA’s Commission on Worship. Click here to access them, along with further information and other resources, or go to the ‘What’s new’ section on the Worship Planning Page on the LCA website.
The theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week is ‘Always Was; Always Will Be’, chosen to acknowledge the fact that First Nations peoples have lived on and cared for the Australian continent for more than 65,000 years.
For us as Christians – both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal together – however, this statement takes us to yet a higher level. Of course, this is because we believe there is only One whose existence truly spans time and eternity – the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He’s the only one of whom it can be said, he always was, and always will be.
