Aged Care & Community Services
At the heart of Christian living is care and compassion for one another, and not only for those who are our family and friends. Jesus says that if we do something kind for 'even the least of these' – meaning the people who are overlooked, vulnerable, on the fringes of society, unlovely and unloved – we are doing that for him (Matthew 25:40). Our Lutheran ministry of care is founded on God's love for us, which is the heartbeat of our care for others.
Let's get started
For an introduction to Care Ministries and our Lutheran ethos of care, we suggest you start with these two videos.
Christian Care Sunday
The LCANZ encourages every congregation to celebrate the ministries of care that happen in our local churches and communities by choosing one Sunday every year to focus on the vulnerable people in our midst, and the individuals and organisations who assist them. By taking the time to acknowledge, pray for and bless these people and places, we trust that the Spirit of God will inspire and sustain us in our future care work.

Chaplain Accreditation
We assist chaplains in Lutheran aged-care and community services to deepen their faith and grow in their understanding of the ministry of care in Lutheran communities. We have developed an accreditation process for lay chaplains.
Grants
Chaplains, pastoral carers and anyone who provides a caring ministry in a Lutheran aged-care or community service or a Lutheran congregation are eligible to apply for a grant for professional development or resourcing support.
Webinars and teaching videos
In recent years we have run conferences and webinars to encourage and equip people across the church who are engaged in caring ministries. If you are interested in learning more, take a look at these resources featuring people already working in the area of Christian service.
