Supporting parents in sharing faith
There is no magic recipe for building a Christian home. However, Christian families have found joy, strength and guidance in spending time daily sharing, praying and reading the Bible. Family devotion time is crucial for developing relationships, both within your family and with God. It provides a Christ-centred focus, giving the wisdom and comfort to get families through many difficult times. When both adults and children may be going through times when they feel so alone and insecure, then you have a family who knows how to talk and listen and have a personal friend in God to rely on.
Your family (and personal) devotion time can:
- create and build a closer relationship with your spouse – increasing unity and creating depth in your marriage
- build a closer relationship with your children – showing how God’s word guides and directs with important choices
- show how God’s promises hold true as faith grows and develops in God’s word
- open the doors of communication between God, your spouse and your children
- inspire passion to want to learn more and grow in God’s grace
- build a positive self-image to know who God made you to be
- open your ears to hear the Holy Spirit speaking.
While we all know the value of spending time together in God’s word, we truly cannot understand how the Holy Spirit will work in your life and those you love.
