Upcoming improvements to Safe Church training
Details of the improved Safe Church training program will be officially released to the church in LCA eNews on 30 April 2024.
‘We have listened to feedback and are working hard to incorporate all of the great suggestions that have come through to us from participants, as well as from others in the church,’ Professional Standards Manager Tim Ross said.
‘The coming adjustments are expected to make the training more robust and effective, but also more user-friendly whilst reducing the time burden for volunteers,’ Tim said.
Although self-paced training on iLearn will continue to be available, as anticipated, an alternative ‘live online’ format will be launched. The additional format will accommodate people who prefer a live training experience.
‘Live online training will deliver the best of both worlds. Participants will be able to attend an online training session at the scheduled time that best suits them; they will not need to wait for a trainer to visit their region or parish for a workshop. They will still have direct interaction with their online trainer and have their questions answered.’
It is anticipated that face-to-face training will be phased out during 2024, and training will be conducted exclusively online by the end of the year.
Information about the rollout of live online training will be provided via LCA eNews (to sign up, go to www.lca.org.au/lcaenews-signmeup) and available on the Safe Church webpage.
