What is Halloween?
What is Halloween all about? Celebrated on 31 October, Halloween has become increasingly popular in Australia, with retailers promoting costumes, candy, and decorations. Its origins trace back to the 7th century, when Christians recognised 1 November as All Saints’ Day, a day to honour deceased followers of Jesus. The name ‘Halloween’ derives from ‘Hallows Eve’, the evening before All Saints’ Day.
‘What is Halloween?’ is a flyer produced by Grow Ministries, designed to help families and children learn about the origins of Halloween and discover some Christian approaches to Halloween.
